Vitus - Four Days To Happiness

The story of Vitus is quite unique. I'm not embarking on a quest for sourdough to uncover a specific process or origin. Instead, I will be picking up Vitus, a sourdough that has journeyed to various locations in Europe and the USA, connecting with people for whom sourdough holds great significance. The final destination of this journey is the home of John Whalley, an artist and painter living in Nobleboro, Maine. John painted Vitus using the old Flemish primitive technique, using egg yolk and color, creating what is likely the only painting in history featuring a sourdough. During my visit, John and I made bread using blueberries from his garden. This story is captured in a book called "Sourdough: Four Days to Happiness" written by Martina Goernemann, who is my guide on this adventure. The book is available on amazon.com. I hope you enjoy following my "Quest for Sourdough" and learning more about Vitus.
