The Klondike Goldrush Sourdoughs
When I was creating a training module about sourdough, I first learned about the Klondike Gold Rush and its sourdough in 2005. In 2017, I received a link on Facebook to a radio interview with Ione Christensen from Whitehorse, Canada, where she talked about the sourdough that she inherited from her great-great-grandfather. This sourdough originated with one of the first gold prospectors in Dawson City. Intrigued, I began researching further and, with the help of CBC radio and a local acquaintance, I managed to get in touch with Ione.
